A. CRAIG EDMUNDS
A. Craig Edmunds ("Ace") was born in Concord, NH, on April 1, 1924 and raised in Lowell, MA. As a boy, he spent six summers at Camp Belknap in Tuftonboro, NH, where he developed a love of the water and Lake Winnipesaukee. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1941 and went to work for the Boston & Maine Railroad. Craig enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served in the South Pacific as a Fire Controlman Second Class aboard the USS Higbee until 1946. Following his Navy service, he attended Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He worked briefly for Arrow-Hart & Hagerman and Vermont Hardware before beginning a 34-year career with the Square D Company. It was while he was working in their Detroit office that he met his wife of 64 years, Marion R. Stone. He was relocated to Pittsburg where they lived briefly before returning to New England where he served as District Sales Manager initially in Needham, MA, and later the Worcester, MA, and Bedford, NH, sales offices.
Craig enjoyed the outdoors and spent summers in Moultonborough, NH, where he loved to waterski, sail and swim. He spent winters skiing at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH. After retiring in 1986, he split his time between his homes in Moultonborough and Franconia. During his early retirement years, he enjoyed travelling, teaching skiing at Bretton Woods, NH, and attending productions at the Barnstormers Theater in Tamworth, NH. Craig was a true gentleman, was known for his dry sense of humor and was a steadfast friend to many. His family attributes Craig's long life to regular doses of "Vitamin G."
Craig is survived by his wife, Marion, of Franconia, NH, his son, Dale Edmunds and his wife Barbara Fay of Wellesley, MA, his daughter, Jill Rudberg of Franconia, NH, his daughter, Kim Husson and her husband William of Derry, NH, and seven grandchildren.
