Mr. Achillefs Agoritsas, 96, of Manchester, NH died August 4, 2007 at the Elliot Hospital following a short illness. He was born on May 1, 1911 in Vithus, Greece the son of Nicholas and Paraskevoula (Bakas) Agoritsas. He was educated in Greece and lived there until 1969 when he came to live in Manchester. He resided with his daughter Irene and her husband Dimitrios Koustas for the past 39 years. While in Greece he worked as a mason. After coming to Manchester he worked as a carpenter for DJ Construction for 7 or 8 years. He served in the Greek Army as a messenger during World War II. He attended St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was a member of the Pentalofos Society at the church. Mr. Agoritsas enjoyed playing cards and cooking. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Koustas of Manchester; 2 sons, Chris Agoritsas of Australia and Alcis Agoritsas of Australia, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Anastasia (Kouteliou) Agoritsas, his son, Vasilios Agoritsas and his brothers and sisters. In His Life: He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chuck, Maria and Mike Koustas, Marcus and Alex Agoritsas and Patricia, Josephine, Achelleas and Stavroula Agoritsas and his five great grandchildren, Dmitri, Ariana, Gia, Christopher and Patrick. Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Monday from 5-8PM with the Trisagion at 6:30pm. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
