Alan Eric Poneleit, age 53, of Concord, New Hampshire, died on May 9, 2015. He was born on July 2, 1961 in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Alan was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend. A devoted dad, he doted on his two girls and was affectionately known by family as "Mr. Mom." Married for several years, he continued an ongoing friendship with his ex-spouse, sharing active child-rearing responsibilities. Family was always a high priority, including his extended family of friends. He maintained a close relationship with his mother and stepfather, and early on with his father who passed away in 1991. As the third of four siblings, he delighted in humorous ribbing of his three sisters, who delighted in their relationship with their only brother.
Alan's great passion in life was music. Known to friends as "Al" and "Gator," he played in local bands and was a masterful guitarist. He graduated from Shenandoah University/Conservatory of Music with a major in classical guitar. Alan spent many happy hours in his recording studio and was fond of trading musical gear for the next fun guitar or amplifier. He connected with band audiences and radio audiences as well, having been in a DJ in broadcasting for many years. He also devised radio promotions, advertising and business playlists. His later career grew in the area of information technology.
Alan was a bright spirit with a big heart and a quirky sense of humor. His laughter and smile could light up a room. Through his music and vibrant personality, he brought joy and uplift to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, though his legacy of love, devotion, humor, talent and generosity will live on in those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert E. Poneleit, of Fairfield, Connecticut. Alan is survived by two school-age daughters; ex-wife, Sarah Sullivan, of NH; mother, Ann L. (Poneleit) Sayer and stepfather Edmund Sayer, of Forked River, NJ; sisters, Sandy Z. Poneleit of Springfield, MO, Linda and her husband, Joseph Danner, of South Jersey, and Elise Zebrowski and her husband, Michael Zebrowski, of Forked River, NJ; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; and numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and a great niece.
