Albert Joseph Caldwell

Albert Joseph Caldwell, Sr., 98, stepped peacefully through the gates of heaven in the early evening hours of April 21, 2024 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, NH. 


Albert was born in Manchester, NH September 23, 1925, son of Frank and Anna (Trombley) Caldwell, and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

 

Albert, a WWII Veteran, served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a Naval aircraft mechanic stationed in both Atlanta Georgia, and California.  Upon returning home, he worked for several local companies including Newton’s Chicken Farm, Chicopee Mills, Derry Shoe, Beauvoir Construction, and retired from the Hooksett School system. During his retirement years, he was an avid gardener and woodworker.  He built many model airplanes which will be on display in December at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire in Manchester, NH, and was an active member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church attending Daily Mass and serving the altar for many years.


Albert was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Rhea L. (Charbonneau) Caldwell.   He was also predeceased by his brothers John Sullivan, Ernest Caldwell, Edward Caldwell, , David Caldwell, and Warren Caldwell; and his sisters May Barkley, Lillian Ferguson, Grace Colby, and Sue Walsh. 


Albert is survived by many other family members including five children: Albert Caldwell, Jr. and his wife Janet of Hooksett, NH; Linda Caldwell of Manchester, NH; Sandra Cate of Springhill, FL; Donald Caldwell and his wife Denise of Allenstown, NH; and Ronald Caldwell and his wife Gisele of Sun City Center, FL; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Services:  Calling hours will be Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 at Phaneuf Funeral Home,  243 Hanover St., Manchester, NH. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following calling hours at 10:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors at Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry at noon.

 

The family wishes to express a special thank you to everyone at the New Hampshire Veterans Home for their kind and loving care of Albert.
