Albert A. Chaput, 89, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on October 31, 2026, following a long illness.
Born in Manchester, NH, on October 27, 1937, Albert was a nearly lifelong resident of Manchester’s West Side. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Eileen, with whom he shared more than 67 years of marriage and four children who were the center of their world.
Albert was a hardworking husband and father who loved his work and remained active well into his early 80s. During his children’s younger years, the family lived in Candia, where Albert enjoyed managing the family’s hobby farm while pursuing his career in auto body work at Duclos Auto Body Shop. He later moved into construction, where he had the opportunity to work alongside his sons for many years. After retiring, Albert and his beloved wife, Eileen, moved to Florida, where Albert worked at Weeki Wachee, helping the famous “Mermaids” prepare for their day. Eventually, the two returned home to New Hampshire, where Albert continued working with his sons for many years.
Those who knew Albert will remember him as a hardworking, devoted, and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved hunting, fishing, collecting and shooting guns, and just about anything that allowed him to spend time outdoors. Albert also had a special love for animals and was always bringing a new addition home to the farm, where horses, cows, chickens, pigs, goats, sheep and many other critters all became part of the family. Those closest to him often joked that Albert may have loved animals even more than people.
Above all else, Albert loved his family. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved and would do anything for them. He treasured being part of the lives of his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and cherished the time he was able to spend with each generation. Albert’s family was always his greatest priority, and his unwavering love, steady support, and devotion will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Albert is survived by his children and their spouses: David Chaput and his wife, Angela Napier; Lisa Kenney and her husband, Sean Kenney; Vicki Gordon and her husband, Chip Gordon; and Dan Chaput and his wife, Violy Chaput. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.
Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen Chaput; his parents, Antonio and Germaine Chaput; his sister, Rose Roy; his brother, Robert “Bobbie” Chaput; and his grandson, Connor Kenney.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place afterward at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH.
