Albert A. Gionet, 83, passed away on May 13, 2024, with his family by his side. Albert was born on February 12, 1941. He was the youngest of sixteen children to Prospere Gionet and Ana (Poulin) Gionet. He graduated from Central High School in 1959. He served in the army, active duty, 1963-1965, and Army Reserves 1966-1970. He married the love of his life, Evelyn (Marois) Gionet, on April 6, 1974. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a truck driver for 40+ years and retired from PPG Industries in 2000. He was a parishioner at St. Marie’s Parish.
Albert was an avid sports fan of the Patriots, Red Socks, and Celtics. He loved to play cribbage with his son, Steven. Albert loved life; he was always optimistic and greeted everyone with a warm smile and a great sense of humor. He was a devoted family man who loved and cherished his family. He loved with all his heart! He had an unbreakable bond with his granddaughter, Heather (Goo), each memory they shared was filled with love and laughter. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Justin, and always greeted him with a “Looking good, Tiny!”. Albert always helped anyone in need and had a generous heart. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring, gentle man with a kind soul who loved music and dancing.
Albert is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Marois) Gionet. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family, including his two daughters, Cynthia Kenney (Keith) and Cheryl Caron. His love extended to his grandchildren, Heather LeBlanc, Miranda Poulin (Craig), and Justin McKeage, and his great-grandchildren, Jacob McKeage, Logan Poulin, Harrison Poulin, and great-great-granddaughter Violette Poulin. He is also survived by his brother, Roland Gionet (Doris), two sisters, Lorraine Sideris and Shirley Riccio, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Albert's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones. He was predeceased by his son, Steven Gionet, and grandson, Joshua Maciulavicius; his siblings, Marcel, Raymond, Alphonse, Theresa, Mary Jane, Stella, Anita, Jackie, Pearl, Rita, Mary Ann, and Irene; and his parents, Prospere and Ana (Poulin) Gionet. Albert’s memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, in Manchester. A Mass of Chrisitan burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 10 a.m. at St. Marie Church in Manchester. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Manchester.
