Mr. Alexander L. Bourzikas, 83, of Amherst died April 11, 2007 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester following a period of declining health. He was born on February 4, 1924 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Lazarus and Maria (Hosiotis) Bourzikas. He was educated in the Manchester school system and attended Central High School. During World War II he served in the US Navy on submarines. He was a torpedomans mate and received several commendations for his service. Mr. Bourzikas worked at Balco in Braintree, MA for many years. He worked with sheet metal making ducts for large building, hospitals and universities in various areas of New England. After retiring, he enjoyed puttering around the house. Mr. Bourzikas enjoyed leading the simple life. He loved spending time with his family at his house by the lake and enjoying the waterside activities. He also enjoyed sports especially the Red Sox and Patriots, and looked forward to playing cribbage with the league. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Laurette (Champagne) Bourzikas of Amherst; two daughters, Jane LaPerle of Manchester and Marie Gagnon of Wilmington, Delaware; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In His Life: He is also survived by his two sons in law, Richard LaPerle of Manchester and Donald Gagnon of Wilmington , Delaware; his grandchildren, Janet Miller and her husband Brian, Tracey Ouellette and her husband Ken, Scott Gagnon and his wife Shannon and Melissa Gagnon and his 4 great grandchildren, Elisabeth and Kaliegh Miller and Lucas and Maxwell Ouellette. He was predeceased by his two brothers, William Bourazikas of Melbourne, Australia and Theodore Bourzikas of St. Louis, Missouri. Calling Hours are on Sunday from 4-8PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave, Manchester. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Manchester. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
