Alexander Scott Casey

May 30, 1995 — September 21, 2023

Nashua

It is with profound sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Alexander Scott Casey, 28 of Nashua, NH on Thursday September 21, 2023. Alex was born on May 30, 1995 in Stoneham, MA to Zachary Scott Casey and Anne-Catrine Nilsson.

Alex grew up in Portland, Maine where as a boy he enjoyed playing soccer, baseball, hockey and swimming in the cold waters of the Maine coast. He delighted in the innumerable hours spent at Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth, ME playing wiffle ball, tossing a football and picnicking with family and friends. As an adult, alongside his father, brothers and friends he lived a life full of passion and adventure in the great outdoors. He golfed, wake boarded and skied the lakes and mountains of Maine and NH and attended countless Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots games creating memories that will forever be cherished by his loved ones.

Alex was a finance manager for McGovern Auto Group. Alex’s dedication and professionalism at work made him an integral part of the team at Toyota of Nashua where he was cherished by coworkers and customers alike, building strong relationships within the industry.

Alex was a proud big brother to Ethan “E” (17) and Cam (13) and his love for them knew no limits. Alex wholeheartedly embraced his role as their big brother. He adoringly guided E and Cam and loved them unconditionally. They will forever cherish the fun they had and the wisdom he imparted during the time they were able to spend with him in this lifetime.

Alex was very connected to and passionate about his Swedish heritage where his mom was raised. He was fifty percent Swedish and held dual citizenship in Sweden and the United States. If you ever had a chance to see some of his beautifully colored tattoos on his arms you would notice the many nods to Swedish culture.

If you were lucky enough to call yourself a friend of Alex’s then you know the size of his heart. You know how he made you laugh, how kind Alex was (there wasn’t a soul he couldn’t get along with) and how he would travel the extra mile and would be where you needed him in a moment's notice.

Alex is predeceased by his uncle Devon Merritt, 23, of Portland, Maine. Alex leaves behind his father, Zachary S Casey; step mom, Jen Casey, and Alex’s brothers, Ethan and Cam Casey from Hollis NH; mother Anne-Catrine Harris Nilsson and her husband Jim Harris of Wilton, ME; grandparents Richard and Judith Casey of Melfa, VA, Candace Casey of Seabrook, NH, Allen and Eliza Merritt of Westbrook, ME, Melody Boulton of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Trudy and George Colburn of Needham, MA, and Rune and Kerstin Nilsson; aunts Geri, Johanna, Tyler, Courtney, Ashley, and Jessica; uncles Torbjorn, Griffin, Tim, Chris, and Sean; cousins Christian, Nicholas, Brandon, Ryan, Sebastian, and Meja, his beloved cat Sammy, and countless friends whom he loved with his whole heart.

A memorial service will be held at Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashua, located at 58 Lowell St. Nashua, NH, on Friday, September 29th at 4:00 pm . A celebration of Alex’s life will follow at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, NH immediately following the service. Alex’s family asks that you add a dash of purple to your outfit Friday. As some of you may know, Alex had a certain affinity for purple and most recently ordered his brand new car in that color!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in recognition of his uncle, Lt. Colonel Griffin R Casey who is proudly serving our country in the United States Air Force.
