Alexander P. DiSilva

Alexander "Buddy" DiSilva died peacefully on January 1, 2021 at age 83. He was born March 20, 1937 to Vincent and Gladys DiSilva. Mr. DiSilva, formally of Lexington MA, worked for many years at his Father's trucking company, DiSilva Transportation in Somerville MA. He worked with many relatives and good friends while driving a truck for DiSilva Transportation. There are so many fond stories of this time in our lives. He later took over the Family operations in Brattleboro VT, Brattleboro Haulage and Webster Trucking. Again, he worked with many Family members and friends in VT and there are many stories of this time as well. Buddy also was a great hockey coach and took his kids and their team to Nova Scotia, and he passed this trait on to his children. He loved all of his Family, all of his nieces and nephews, and all of his relatives. Among his fondest memories were spending Christmas Eves at his parent's house with his Aunt Sandy and Aunt Joan and then telling stories to all of his nieces and nephews afterwards in the basement. His legendary stories included tales of his childhood and growing up with his 4 sisters in Waltham MA, his "war stories", his love of driving a truck and his stories of the family business, including him and his cousin Albert unloading freight cars and unloading watermelons in the company yard.
Mr. DiSilva was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Waltham MA and St Anselm's College in Manchester NH Class of 1958. He retired many years ago in Brattleboro VT, so he could stay close to and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by five children, Michael and Theresa of Wake Forest NC, Gregory and Heidi of Brattleboro VT, Mike and Loren of Winchester MA, Charles of Arlington MA, and Nancy and Brian of Brattleboro VT. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Gregory Jr, Elke, Emma, Patric, Lacey, Vincent, Katie, and Isabelle. Alex was predeceased by two sisters, Madelyn and Delores. He is also survived by two sisters, Marie and Bob Stocki of Waltham, MA, and JoAnne and Bill Vrettas of Falmouth MA. Mr. DiSilva had asked to be cremated and placed with his Mother Gladys in the Family plot in Lexington Cemetery. The Family will not be holding any services at this time. They ask that we all hold our fondest memories of Buddy in our hearts and remember all of the good and smiles he spread in this world.
