Alfred H. Boucher is now in his "forever" heavenly home! He passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the age of 93. He was born on February 14, 1925, in Manchester, NH to Henri and Anna (St. Dennis) Boucher. He was a life-long resident of Manchester, except for five years spent in Nashua from 2000 to 2006.
Members of his family include a son Ronald Boucher of Goffstown (wife Joan Curdo), a daughter Elaine Taku of Hudson (husband Fumio), five grandchildren, Jim Boucher, Jennifer Boucher, David Taku, Jonathan Taku, Maria Taku, and three great-grandchildren Jack Taku, Kate Taku, and Alina Taku, with a new granddaughter due on his upcoming birthday in February.
During WWII at age 18, he and his brother Armand both volunteered for the army together. Al was stationed at several bases in the U.S. and was assigned to the Medical Corps. After he completed his military medical training in El Paso, Texas, he served the last year of the war in Italy as a medical technician. He attained the rank of Corporal and returned to the U.S. in February, 1946 and was discharged shortly afterwards. He married the love of his life Irene Gregoire, also from Manchester, on September 14, 1946. They were married for 64 years until the death of Irene on Palm Sunday March 28, 2010.
He was an accomplished musician learning to play the guitar in his teenage years when "cowboy" music was very popular. His music career started after the war with the "Kalua Hawaiians" band then moved on to join the Mel-O-Tones and finally settled down playing as a regular band member at the former Elms Resort in Goffs Falls. He also played for many weddings before disc jockeying appeared on the scene.
He was a "Jack of all Trades" especially in home repairs and was employed in maintaining the grounds and buildings at the Precious Blood Monastery and later worked for Manchester Housing Authority maintaining two high-rise senior housing buildings. He worked as an electronic repair technician for the former Manchester Music Company and also worked for Boucher Sheet Metal Company.
He had the blessed opportunity to tour the Holy Land of Israel twice in 1990 and 1992 with a tour organized and led by his son-in-law and daughter. This was a deeply significant time in his life, and even in his later years, he often pointed to the picture of Jesus in his nursing home room and said "Oh how I love Jesus".
Al's sense of humor and witty expressions did not diminish as he aged and dementia set in. He spent his last 2 ½ years at the Glencliff nursing facility in Warren, N.H. where he was known to amuse the staff and residents with his entertaining ways.
TODAY WE REJOICE THAT HE IS FREE FROM ANY PAIN, SORROW AND SICKNESS AND HAS COMPLETED HIS LIFE ON EARTH TO JOIN JESUS IN HEAVEN â WITH HIS WIFE IRENE AND MANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN GLORY!
