Alfred William Hodge, 74, died Monday, December 8, 2025, at Brandon Hospital in Brandon, Florida. He was born on March 9, 1951 in Nashua, NH, the son of Alfred Herbert Hodge and Eleanor Mahoney Hodge.
Al attended James B. Crowley School, Spring Street Jr. High, and graduated from Nashua High School in 1970. During his school years, Al participated in many sports. As a young boy, he won several swimming awards at Fields Grove and by seventh grade, he was playing football for Spring Street, CYO basketball and Babe Ruth Baseball.
In ninth grade, he was chosen for first string on the NHS Varsity football team and in his Senior year he held the position of Co-Captain. He was also selected to the Division One All State Football team, played in the NH Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game and the 1970 Lowell Sun Charities Football game where his sister, Debbie, reigned over the game as the Lowell Sun Queen.
His hockey enthusiasm began in ninth grade as a manager and score keeper for the NHS Hockey team. By the next season, he was playing on the NHS Varsity Hockey team and by his senior year he was a Tri-Captain.
Al also played NHS Varsity Baseball for two years as a catcher and played on the NHS Golf League for two years.
After high school, Al attended Laurelcrest Prepartory School in Bristol, Connecticut and Central Connecticut College where he continued to play football.
Al graduated from Daniel Webster College, Nashua, with a BS in Business Management and over the years worked at Edgecomb Steel, Nashua Memorial Hospital, Sanders Associates, Cal-Comp and BAE.
In keeping up with his love of sports, Al spent eleven years in organized Rugby competition with the Boston Rugby Club and the Amoskeag Rugby Football Club. As time marched on, he played with the Concord NH Rugby Club who were affectionately known as the Old Boys. The Rugby years took him all over New England and internationally to Ireland, England, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Hawaii, Trinidad and Tobago.
Golf eventually became a major focus. Al played at many courses up and down the Eastern Seaboard, participated in many tournaments and worked at several nearby courses with the most recent being Overlook Golf Club in Hollis.
Al is a member of the Elks and has many friends that he visits regularly at the National Club.
Al enjoyed his life and especially all the friends he made over the years. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah A. Hodge of Nashua.
SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 12 noon to 3 pm at the Lafayette Club on High Street in Nashua. Burial Services will be held privately. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association.
