Alice "Betty" (Rushton) Duggan, 84, of Bedford, NH, died May 9, 2009 at Bedford Hills Health Care Facility in Bedford, NH. She was born in Cheadle, England on April 15, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Rushton. She served in Italy as a member of the British Army during World War II. In 1946, she immigrated to the United States after the war and lived in Dunkirk, NY for over thirty years before relocating to the Groton, CT area. She had been a NH resident since 2002. While in CT, she had worked for Regency Retirement Home until her retirement in 1982. She was the widow of John P. Duggan. She was an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction works and was also an avid historian who enjoyed expanding her vast knowledge of world history. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and playing bingo. In Her Life: Family members include two daughters, Lynn Hodgerney and her husband Fabian of Bedford, NH and Dorothy Leonard and her husband Robert of Groton, CT; four sons, Thomas Gilebarto and his wife Julie of Loogootee, IN, Kevin Gilebarto and his wife Robin of Bozrah, CT, David Gilebarto of Stockton, NY and Jimmy Gilebarto of Durnirk, NY; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Nora Woodward of Stoke on Trent, England; and many nephews, nieces and cousins located throughout the UK and Austrailia. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Trombetta. Services will be private and limited to family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN, 48105 or to a charity of ones choice.
