B. Allen “Al” Sprague, 62, of Amherst, died November 3, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.

He was born in Manchester on January 27, 1946, the son of William and Barbara (Eaton) Sprague. He grew up in Goffstown, graduating from Goffstown High School in 1964. He attended St. Anselm college for two years then joined the United States Marines in October 1966. He served in the Marines for three years, including service in Vietnam.

Mr. Spent over 34 years in the advertising and public relations industry. The last 19 years he had spent behind the desk of his own firm, bGG Advertising. He authored “Confessions of an Ad Guy” in 2002 and contributed to “Inside the Minds: Advertising Best Practices” with a chapter titled “The Myths and the Madness” in 2007. He was also a well-known local stage actor and long-time board member of the Palace Theatre in Manchester.

Family members include his wife of 24 years, Annette (Dufresne) Sprague, a daughter, Alexandra Sprague of Amherst; a brother, Richard Sprague of FL; a sister, Doris Evens of VA; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to attend a “Celebration of His Life” on Thursday from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord. It was Al’s request for all to share memorable events and lighthearted stories of him in his memory. He would expect nothing less from those who knew him best. His cremated remains will be interred at the NH State Veterans Cemetery and a small portion will also reside at his favorite golf course. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palace Theater, 80 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03101. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is entrusted with the arrangements.
