Alma Hardy, born Rose Alma, 95, of Concord, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on March 9, 2024. Alma was born in Concord, NH, July 6, 1928, to Arthur and Antoinette (Belair) Johnson.
She grew up in Fosterville and remained close to that area most of her life. She met and married the love of her life Edmund Hardy in 1949 and raised three children, David Hardy of Deerfield, Joseph Hardy of Concord, and Cheryl Hardy of Warner, later taking on a career as secretary for Page Belting company, retiring after 31 years of service.
Alma enjoyed many activities in the Concord area with the Concord women’s club, including bowling, golfing, and dancing. Alma was an avid gardener and spent many hours in her beloved flowerbeds. She also loved cruising and traveling across the United States, crisscrossing the country six times, visiting Hawaii twice, and stopping at every antiques store she could find along the way. Mom enjoyed cake decorating and made many birthday and wedding cakes for friends and family. On weekends Ed and Alma could be found with friends dancing at the Cabaret and Rockingham ballrooms. She was a volunteer usher at the Capitol Center for the Arts.
Alma was predeceased by her husband, Edmund, and sister, Dorothy Dukette. In addition to her three children, Alma is survived by her sister, Alice Farrell, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, March 21st 11:30am-12:30pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Memorial service will begin at 12:30 in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow immediately at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association online at https://www.alz.org/.
