Americo "Mac" Santos

Americo "Mac" Santos, 88, died peacefully at home in his sleep due to heart failure on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born on September 7, 1927 in Manchester, son of the late Jose and Clutilde Santos.
He was the loving and devoted husband of Denise (Laverdure) Santos. They were married in Manchester on June 27, 1953.
Americo served his country proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a meat cutter at Stop & Shop for many years.
He had coached little league in Goffstown, was an avid pool player, a life-time member of the Alpine Club of Manchester, and a member of the Alpine Club Men's Pool League. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots, even when they were "playing like a bunch of old ladies." Above all, he was a great man who truly loved life and was devoted to his family and church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jose and Clutilde; his grandson, Alex; two brothers, Joseph and his wife Cindy and Tony Santos; as well as his brother-in-law, Raymond Schmidt.
Along with his beloved wife of 62 years, Denise, he is survived by his four children and their spouses, Diane Schunemann and husband James, CW3 Thomas Santos, US Army, Paul Santos and wife Margaret, and Daniel Santos; six grandchildren, Jamie, Matthew and his wife Amy-Lynn, Erin, Kelsi, Jonathan, and Kory; two great-grandchildren, Natasha and Sonja; a great-great-grandson, Cole; four siblings, Mary Schmidt, Dolly Stewart and husband Robert, George Santos, James Santos and his wife Kay; a sister-in-law, Doris Gagnon; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; Jackie LaLanne who was like a second daughter to him and her husband Rod; and his faithful cat, Billy Boy.
SERVICES: Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4-8pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Ave in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Parish of the Transfiguration, 107 Alsace Street in Manchester on Friday, May 13, at 11am. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment prayers will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
