Ammalu Nair, 98, of Nashua, passed away at her residence on March 14, 2024, with her loving family by her side.

Ammalu was born in Kasaragod, India on April 16, 1925. She was the wife of the late Kunhiraman Nair. She was a plantation owner and manager, as well as a homemaker during her lifetime. In 1986 she moved to the United States to be with her eldest daughter and family in Sudbury, MA. In 1999 she moved to Nashua, NH to be with her youngest daughter. Ammalu was an avid world traveler, and her children were the center of her life. She spent her years alongside her three daughters and their families. 

Her loved ones remember her as a kind, gentle, and loving pillar in the family, who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams. She is known for her generosity, positive presence, and great strength. She touched the lives of many and always remembered each person who crossed her path by name.  Her sharp mind, observing nature, and wit brought joy to those around her. 

Ammalu was passionate about needlework, crocheting, and gardening. Her faith was rooted in her unwavering spiritual practice. She was a dedicated member of the Hindu Temple of New Hampshire and cherished by her community.

Ammalu is survived by her daughters Usha Nambiar, Malathi Nambiar, and Shobha Menon. Her son-in-laws Madhavan Nambiar, the late Rajagopal Nayanar, and Bala Menon. Her grandchildren Sunitha Bhaskar, Rekha Paul, Jyothi Das, Arjun Menon, Manoj Nambiar, Aravind Menon, and Ambika Menon. Her great-grandchildren Nithya, Divya, Sandhya, Jin, Jeeth, Siddarth, Shreya, Mark, and Sonia.

A visitation will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
