Andrew Ortiz, Jr., 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, with his son and best friend, Danny, by his side.

Born on March 15, 1943, in New York, NY, he was the son of Andrew (Andres) Ortiz, Sr., and Isabel Ortiz Rivera.

He married Isabel L. Ortiz Testa Dominguez on Tuesday December 26, 1967, in the Balboa Canal Zone, Republic of Panama, Panama. They had two kids together, a son Danny, and a daughter, Maribel.

After fourteen years together, Andrew and Isabel decided to go their separate ways. Since then, they maintained an amicable relationship throughout the years.

Master Sergeant Andrew Ortiz proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1966 until his retirement in 2002.

Mr. Ortiz was a devoted member of the American Legion Sweeney Post # 2 in Manchester. NH.

He worked many kinds of civilian jobs throughout his life. He was a NYC Lifeguard, a Dental Assistant, a Bank Teller, an Accountant, an Ophthalmic Laboratory Technician, Copier Technician, Electro/Mechanical Technician, and then retired into his last career of being a School Bus Driver. Throughout all of these jobs, he maintained a presence in the US Air National Guard.

Andrew loved learning and took advantage of higher learning opportunities through the Community College of the Air Force as well as Central New England College of Technology.

He enjoyed many sports activities including, baseball, bowling, cross-fit training, football, high diving, ice-skating, long-distance swimming, roller skating, running, and volleyball. He was a very active person who loved a challenge.

Andrew enjoyed casual and fine dining experiences with his friends and family. He liked going to concerts, amusement parks, Beaches, bowling, and traveling. He loved any chance he got to see a movie at the Drive-In, he adored trips to Art, History, and Science museums.

He also enjoyed some of life’s simpler things, like County Fairs, local live events, checking out local breweries and distilleries, and long scenic road trips with people he loved.

One of Andrew’s biggest passions was dancing. He specifically loved Ballroom Dance and Swing Dance. He was a member of many dancing clubs, including, Dance2Swing, Queen City Ballroom, and the New Hampshire Amateur Ballroom Dance Association. He was light on his feet and was an amazing dancing partner. He even taught others how to dance.

Andrew was an amazing father who led by example. He was always ready to bring the fun everywhere he went. He made a huge impact on the lives of all those who were blessed to know him.

He is predeceased by his parents; Andrew and Isabel Ortiz.

Andrew is survived by, his son, Danny Ortiz, his daughter, Maribel (Ortiz) Goosby and her husband Willie, his former spouse Isabel L. Ortiz Testa, his grandchildren, Christopher N. Ortiz, Peter C. Ortiz, Jennifer K. Ortiz, Rinaldo Goosby, and Willie Goosby, his sisters; Irza Pedraza and her former husband Peter Pedraza, Fidelina Batista and her husband Matt Batista, his cousin Raymond Rivera and his wife Trini Rivera, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Andrew’s life will take place on Thursday June 5, 2025, from 11am-1pm, at Phaneuf Funeral Home located at 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03102. Following his celebration, Andrew will have a cemetery committal with Military Honors at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen NH.
