Listen to Obituary

Angela Felicia Diener, 99, was called home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2025.

Angela was born July 6, 1026 in New Haven, CT to Italian immigrants Matthew and Felicia (Pacileo) Covone. She was the eldest of their 3 daughters, all having predeceased her. Her father, a concert musician and professional watchmaker taught her to play the violin at age 5. From her mother, a seamstress, she learned the craft and art of making beautiful clothes for herself and her own family when the time came. She attended secretarial classes studing bookkeeping, typing and office skills.

In 1950, she married Bobby L. Diener, an airman in the US Air Force and in 1951 moved with him to his duty station in Sheringham, England with their first child where she was able to witness the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. In 1953 they were transferred to California where her second child was born. In 1955, they were transferred to Robbins AFB, GA where her third child was born. In 1959 they were transferred to Lowery AFB in Denver, CO where her fourth child was born. In 1960 they were transferred to Orlando AFB, Orlando FL where she was able to witness the first launching of an American astronaut, Alan Shepherd, into space. In the summer of 1961 they were transferred to Hahn AFB, Germany where she was able to witness news of the building of the Berlin Wall and later as the world experienced the threat of nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. It was in Germany that her fifth child was born. After 15 years of moving, they settled in Goffstown, NH where Bob had his last Air Force assignment at New Boston Satellite Tracking Station.

Settling in Goffstown, NH, she developed an interest in gardening organically and developed a passion for healthy eating habits that she instilled in her children. In addition to living a healthy nutritional lifestyle, Angela loved swimming mile-laps at the 'Y' on lunch breaks while working in Manchester and in later years doing laps in her own pool. She was an exceptional cook and baker of amazing breads and decadent desserts and pastries. She created many healthy recipes and articles, one of which was printed as full page feature article in the Sunday Manchester Union Leader. Throughout the years, Angela strove to maintain a rigorous exercise routine, enjoying long, strenuous outdoor power walks, cardio workouts at the gym, enabling her to remained a 'petite, healthy little powerhouse’ well into her late 90's.

To supplement the family income, she worked for a time as a secretary at Goffstown Town Hall and later as a legal secretary for a local prominent lawyer. Angela had a deep love for writing and it was during this time that she wrote many short stories and poems, including the manuscript for a book (Goodbye my Children) that she later published in 2013 based on her experiences with the family during their stay in Germany. She actively followed NH and world events and expressed her thoughts which were published in Letters to the Editor of the Union Leader. One of her detailed letters was highlighted as an op-ed piece. Other short stories were published in Readers Digest.

In 1973, Bob and Angela bought land in Weare, NH and built their dream house. An entrepreneur, she founded the business ‘Initial Elegance’ creating and machine crafting custom embroidered logos, names and designs for business, personal clothing and outerwear. Angela also owned and operated ‘Duragraphic Laminating’ from their home, providing plastic laminating services to the business and restaurant community until Bob’s passing in 2008. She then resided independently in Concord, NH until July of 2025, when she moved in with her daughter in Manchester, NH. Then an injury sent her to the hospital and finally to Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown to receive rehab and skilled nursing care.

Angela loved her family, the Lord, her church and her country. She was a committed, born-again Christian and attended church services regularly until she could no longer drive at age 97. She was fiercely patriotic and helped support leaders that she believed were in the best interest of the country. She was very results-oriented and purpose-driven and was never satisfied until her tasks were completed and was busy to the end of her life. She now rests in the peace and glory of the Lord.

She is survived by her five children, Roger Diener, 75, and wife, Doreen of Hudson, NH; Lorelyn Schuetz, 72, and husband, Steven, of Riverside, FL; April Diener, 69, of Manchester NH; Debra Diener, 65, of Margate, FL; and Robert Diener, 60, and wife, Susan of Weare, NH. She also has eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was among the original, faithful members of Trinity Baptist Church and finally a member of Granite State Baptist Church in Concord, NH.
