Aniela Borun, 99, passed away on February 20 at Newberry Health in SC with family by her side. She was born on November 1, 1926 in Ruda, Poland to Jan and Agnieszka (Rudnicka) Wicijowski.
Aniela’s life was one marked by resilience, courage, and deep love for her family. After surviving the hardships of being a prisoner of WW II, Aniela was placed on a train to Italy by the Red Cross. Months later, she traveled to England, where she joined the Polish army under British command. There she met the love of her life, Jacenty. They married and built a life together rooted in strength and devotion. In 1952, they immigrated to the US in search of a brighter life. Aniela worked in the textile industry and was a devoted member of St. Hedwigs.
In her quieter moments, she found happiness in growing her flowers and vegetables, knitting, and cooking. Her life was a testament to survival, faith, and family, and her legacy will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
Family includes a son, Mark Borun, wife Jeannette, of Auburn, NH, a daughter, Lucyna Thompson, husband, Mark, of Prosperity, SC. grandchildren; Timothy, Angela, Jennifer, Derek, Caitlin, and Kelsey. Great grandchildren ; Michael, Nicholas, Lauren, Brooke, Rylee, Jonas, Jyles, Jayla, Rylee Lucyna, Skyla, Gracie Mae, Josiah, and Cora
Calling Hours for Aniela will be held on Monday, March 2 from 9 AM to 12 PM, with a funeral service at 11 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH 03104. She will be laid to rest immediately afterwards at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Bedford, NH.
