Anita Margaret (Filteau) Fraser, 88, of Goffstown, NH, peacefully passed away in her sleep, April 4, 2022.
Anita was born February 9, 1934, in Pinardville, NH to the late Alcide and Anna (Bourque) Filteau and was also preceded in death by her husband Roger Fraser; son, Michael Fraser; siblings, Albert, Rita, Arthur, Theresa, Roland, Roger, Emile, Marcelle, and Aime.
Growing up on a farm, she learned many valuable skills she used all of her life. As a wife and mother, she was always doing for others and giving of herself. She was an accomplished stitcher, helping to financially support her young family in the Manchester mills. Later, she served many years as a dedicated nursing home LNA. A natural-born caretaker, she gladly volunteered to ease the burden of caring for ill and/or dying family members, as well. She did whatever was needed. She also made regular donations to charities that were meaningful to her, especially St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Her creative interests included many arts and crafts. Her wedding and bridesmaid dressmaking talents, saved only for her lucky family, were legendary! She was always making something for someone in the family. An avid gardener and excellent cook, she loved to preserve local farm produce for year-round eating. She enjoyed sewing clothes (even men’s shirts that look professional and last forever), crocheting, knitting, making dolls, listening to country music, snuggling with her pet kitty, and was always, always rooting for her favorite Boston Red Sox. A passion first shared growing up with her father, she knew her baseball!
Anita was a shy, kind, gentle soul and a devout Catholic. Her family was always her number one priority. She and her loving husband, Roger, raised their five children and were later busy helping out in their grandchildren’s lives, as well. Eventually, more grandchildren came along, then great-grandchildren and even one great-great-grandchild. Nieces and nephews included. She deeply loved, encouraged, and cherished them all.
In her later years, she resided at Varney Street Apartments, where she made some dear friends and was involved in many activities. She received various awards, though her most important award is for Best Mother of the Year for 64 consecutive years. She was also very proud of being the longest-living Filteau of her 9 siblings. Her phone calls and constant contact with everyone she loved will be missed.
Much beloved as Mom, Memere, Aunt, Grandma / Great-Grandma Fraser, Anita is survived by her children, Tom, Dennis, Debra, and David; her grandchildren, Tiffany, Kathleen, Joe, Melissa, Henry Jr., Sarah, and Crystal; her step-grandchildren, Steve, Karen and Julie.
She leaves her 27 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Parker, Logan, Hunter – Sebastian, Autumn, Jacob – Connor, Jackson, McKenzi - Kayla, Naeem, Jacob, Jordan, Julien - Anthony, Bailey, Zander - Gannon, Jack, Calvin, Caleb – Brady, Mya, Nevaeh, Jordan and Carter; her step-great-grandchildren, Leiah, Christian, Aidan, Andrew, Benjamin, Ryan, Maia and Daniel and her great-great-grandchild Landon.
She also leaves numerous caring nieces, nephews, and their families, all of whom were special to her. She kept track of almost everyone’s names and birthdays. She was the most valuable family resource for accurate genealogy records and identifying people and places in family photos, old and new. She shared so many stories to pass down!
