FRANCONIA, NH Anna C. West, age 92, passed away on April 15, 2008 at the Lafayette Center.
Anna was born in McIndoes, VT on February 20, 1916, the daughter of Raymond and Glenna (King) Choate.
She was born one of ten children and enjoyed her family. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed the ocean and especially lighthouses. When she was young, she enjoyed music and played both the trumpet and the piano. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the occasional prank. She and her husband made their home in Franconia and later she moved to Connecticut. Eventually she made her home in Littleton.
She is survived by her brothers, David Choate and his wife, Nellie of Monroe, NH, Richard Choate and his wife, Ann of Lisbon, NH, Carroll Choate and his wife, Bessie of Zephyr Hills, FL, and one sister Doris Blodgett of Littleton, NH; her children, David Shufelt and his wife Priscilla of Groveton, NH, Helen Derosia and her husband, Harold of Lisbon, NH, Edward Shufelt and his wife, Marilyn of Lunenburg, VT, and Harry and his wife, Betty of Odenton, MD; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Clifton Choate, Erwin Choate, Frank Choate, Emerson Choate and one sister, Carolyn Stillings.
SERVICES A Graveside service will be held on Friday, April 25th at the Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia, NH at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Bascom, Sr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
