Anne M. Rice, 86, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2023. She was born on April 19, 1936 to the late Theodore and Marie (Kilduff) Holmes and would go on to marry her best friend and love of her life, Richard Rice, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage and raised two beloved daughters.
Anne was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of countless individuals during her time on this earth. She grew up in Lexington, MA with a love for learning and went on to become a dedicated and beloved schoolteacher. Anne spent 26 years in the Bedford MA school system, inspiring generations of students with her passion for education and her unwavering commitment to her students' success.
Anne was not only a devoted teacher but also a devoted wife to her husband Richard, whom she was married to for an incredible 62 years. Their love was a true testament to the power of commitment and devotion, and they were a constant source of inspiration to those who knew them. In her free time Anne shared a love of knitting and flower gardening, spending many happy hours pursuing these hobbies. In the summer months, Anne and Richard would escape to their favorite spot, Newfound Lake, where they enjoyed swimming, boating, and being with family.
Anne was always at her best when surrounded by family, and she cherished any opportunity to be with those she loved. Her kind heart, unwavering dedication, and contagious spirit for life will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and former students. She will be remembered as a teacher who went above and beyond for her students, a wife who demonstrated the power of true love, and a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Anne has joined her two brothers Frank & Robert Holmes; grandson Drew Rudzinski and son in law Kennth Arlen in heaven. She is survived by her loving husband Richard Rice; daughter Lisa Arlen; daughter Karen Rudzinski and her husband Thomas; grandchildren Derek, Daniel & Kimberly; 2 great-grandchildren Harrison & William; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Friday, April 7th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, with as service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH.
