Archie C. Zarkadas, 83, of Framingham, MA died January 31, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston due to complications from a hip fracture. Mr. Zarkadas was born on December 13, 1921 in Manchester, NH the son of the late Costas and Vasiliki (Kakaranzis) Zarkadas. He was a decorated US Army veteran who served in World War II. Archie received his Bachelors degree from St. Anselm College in Manchester and his Masters in Social Work from Boston College. For many years he served as the Director of Professional Services at Family Counseling and Guidance Center in Massachusetts while also maintaining a private psychiatric counseling practice in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. He was an avid cook and talented woodworker. Mr. Zarkadas was a loving father, grandfather and uncle. He will be missed by his loving companion, Denise Ingram; daughter, Joanna Zarkadas and her partner, Ginny Sands of Framingham, MA; sons, Charles Charlie Zarkadas and his wife, Maryellen, of Boston, MA and Peter Zarkadas of Natick, MA; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Sotirios Zarkadas and his sister, Helen Bourpos. Calling hours will be Saturday morning, February 5th from 10:00 until 11:30 AM with a Service to follow at 11:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. Burial will take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
