Arnold Clark

Arnold E. Clark, 87 passed away Wednesday March 28, 2012 at Holton Home in Brattleboro. He was born on the family farm in Guilford January 17, 1925 the eldest child of Earl W. and Clara (Goodnow) Clark. He graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1943. While at BHS he was chosen to attend Boys State. After his graduation he joined the Vermont State Guard where he trained for Internal Security and served with Company C.
Arnold was a dairy farmer all of his life. When he retired from farming he became more involved in making maple syrup, both as an occupation and hobby, he sugared almost every year of his life. As a young man he served as forest fire warden for several years. Arnold was always interested in Law enforcement and for twenty three years he was Constable when the duties included dog officer and delinquent tax collector. He enjoyed working with local people and had served his town as moderator for fifteen years and also as selectman for twelve years. He also served as deputy game warden for several years and Windham County Deputy Sheriff for twenty years. Arnold was fond of hunting, fishing, reading and bird watching.
He was married to Phyllis Ingram June 19, 1946. She predeceased him on March 5, 2007
He is survived by his son Anthony and his wife Janet Clark, his two daughters, Donna Reay and her husband Russell and Ellen Jenks and her husband Leigh. Three sisters, Virginia Cote, Arlene Gilbert and her husband Robert and Shirley Squires; Two brothers, Edward Clark and his wife Cynthia and Richard J. Clark. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Guilford Community Church. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. There will be a reception in the church fellowship hall.
