Artek John Langworthy

On Thursday, May 21st a treasure was lost when Artek John Langworthy died suddenly. He was 21 months old and loved by all who knew him. He was the son of Joanna (Dybciak) Langworthy and Paul Richard Langworthy of Merrimack.

Artek was a special little guy. He came rushing into this world on August 20, 2018, born just minutes after arriving at the hospital in Nashua, and came out so quickly that he bruised his whole face on the way. He was a strong and athletic boy who always seemed to be rushing into the next big challenge.

Artek loved to move and he loved to dance, and he was already dancing while holding hands before he could even stand on his own. He always perked up whenever a tune or a beat was heard that he could move his body to. He would demand that Sesame Street be played whenever he had a chance, and he danced furiously to every crazy song (especially if Elmo or Cookie Monster were involved).

Artek was curious about everything around him: never getting bored, always examining every new thing in his world, and always finding new things to play with. His attention span seemed limitless. He played more with the pots, pans, and spoons from the kitchen than anything else, but he loved to browse through picture books, stack up blocks, ride around on whatever vehicle he could find, and bounce around on piled up couch cushions.

Artek was always drawn to people and had a way of making people remember him wherever he went. He adored his older sister Nadia- always trying to imitate her or get her attention. Nobody could make him laugh quite like his sister could. He was an amazing hugger, and he always found a way to get an extra hug or two from mom or dad every day.

Artek taught us all how to live in the moment: he was always smiling, waving hello, blowing kisses, cuddling, and making time for a well-deserved nap. He pried our hearts open wider than we ever thought possible, and his short, brilliant life will be remembered forever by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Nadia Anna Langworthy of Merrimack; his maternal grandparents Alek and Barbara Dybciak of Jaroslaw, Poland; his paternal grandparents, Richard H. and Barbara M. (Smith) Langworthy of Franconia; and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in both the US and Poland. He was predeceased by his grandmother Anna Dybciak and his uncle John R. Langworthy.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Snows Church followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Franconia. In memory of Artek, please send donations to Sesame Workshop at sesameworkshop.org/donate
