Arthur "Gerry" St. Cyr, 81, of Manchester, NH died September 12, 2008 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a long illness. He was born in Chicopee, MA on April 2, 1927 the son of the late Arthur E. and Helene (Gagnon) St. Cyr. He was a resident of Manchester for most of his life. Mr. St. Cyr worked at JF McElwain for 38 years. Later he worked at Laconia Shoe for 5 ½ years. He retired from Raytheon, in North Andover, MA in 1992, after 5½ years of service. He also worked part time at Chap's Superette. During World War II he served in the US Navy from 1945-1946. He was a member of the Precious Blood League of 1000 Men, AARP and the Jutras Post. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Mr. St. Cyr was a member of a local prayer group and a tenor in a volunteer choir that performed at local nursing homes. He was on a bowling league at JF McElwain, winning several awards and championships. Gerry was an avid cribbage player. His sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his 3 sons, Ronald A. St. Cyr of Manchester, Armand G. St. Cyr of Hudson and Rene E. St. Cyr of Liverpool, NY; a daughter, Diane Janelle of Cumming, GA; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 brothers, Emile St. Cyr of Manchester and Ernest St. Cyr of Manchester; 2 sisters, Therese Scholes of Manchester and Lucille Therrien of Laconia; one aunt, many nieces and nephews and several godchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine (Morin) St. Cyr who died in 1997 and his son, Andre St. Cyr who died in 1989. In His life: He was predeceased by his sister, Yvonne Gauthier and his grandchild, Christopher St. Cyr. Calling Hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
