ARTHUR H. HUNT
FRANCONIA, NH -- Arthur H. Hunt, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Franconia, NH on July 30, 2015 after a four-month illness. Never one to complain, he made special memories each day during his final seven weeks, a gift and lesson to us all.
Art was born in Littleton, NH on July 31, 1954 to Herbert and Lorraine Hunt. Raised in Sugar Hill, he spent his summer vacations working at the local golf course and the Franconia Dairy Bar. Soon after graduating from Lisbon High School he began work as a pressman at Harrison Publishing House in Littleton, a position he held for 42 years. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and willingness to assist anyone in need gained him the respect and friendship of the McPhaul family and all of the employees at HPH.
Art married Laurie Boswell, his dear, on July 24, 1982. They made their home in Monroe, NH for 30 years before moving back home to Franconia. It was in Monroe that they raised their two children Sarah Jane and Matthew. Art was a wonderful father who spent countless hours supporting his children in their various activities, whether as a spectator or as a coach. Ever giving, Art was a quiet servant, volunteering his time and talents to care for the property at The First Congregational Church in Littleton, and to many projects at The Riverside School in Lyndonville, VT. His generosity and compassion will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
Art had many interests, most of which were outdoors and involved spending time with James, his brother and best friend: hunting, sugaring, clearing land, cutting wood, and driving back roads. Family travel or adventures often included James and his three children.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Laurie Boswell and their two children, Sarah Jane Hunt of Modesto, CA and Matthew Hunt of Franconia; his father Herbert Hunt of Sugar Hill; four siblings Alicia Hunt of Sugar Hill, James Hunt (Kathy) of Easton, Richard Hunt (Claudia) of Sugar Hill, and Kenneth Hunt of Bethlehem, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his mother Lorraine Hunt.
SERVICES -- Visiting hours will be Wednesday August 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. The service will be held at the First Congregational Church in Littleton at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 6th.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the memorial fund of the First Congregation Church, 189 Main Street, Littleton, NH, in Art's memory.
