Arthur F. Provencher, Sr., 76, formerly of 379 Huse Rd and currently of 219 Beech St, died August 31, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Manchester on August 31, 1925, the son of Arthur J. and Rachel (Laliberte) Provencher and had been a lifelong resident of the City. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and fought in the Pacific Theater. He had worked for many years at Manchester Sand and Gravel. After that, he worked for Genest Bakery. He and his wife also owned Jewitt Street Market. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church. He was the widow of Violet (Paris) Provencher who died last year. Family members include two sons, Arthur F. Provencher, Jr., and Roger A. Provencher, both of Manchester; two grandsons, David Provencher and Roger Provencher, both of Manchester; a brother, Gerard Provencher of Manchester; two sisters, Cecile Sevigney and Rachel Lavallee, both of Manchester and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in St. Anthony Church. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary cemetery columbarium.
