Arthur J. Samson, 93, of Manchester passed away August 11, 2005 after celebrating a long, successful and much enjoyed lifetime. He was born on March 13, 1912 in Manchester the son of Emile and Louisiana (Rene) Samson. A WWII US Navy Veteran and survivor of the Battle of Midway, he attained the enlisted rank of Chief Petty Officer and served his country in the military for over 20 years in both the US Army and Navy. Mr. Samson was an independent entrepreneur who had many careers including shipwrights carpenter, general contractor, insurance broker and commercial real estate developer. Arthur is survived by his 4 children: John of Newark, Delaware; Judi Farr of Manchester, NH; Joseph of Barrington, NH and Joan Gross of Athol, MA. as well as a sister Theresa Weed of Anaheim, CA a brother Robert of Hooksett and his sister-in-law Jackie Samson of Hooksett. He will also be missed by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery at 11:30 AM, Friday, August 12th where Arthur will be laid to rest along the side of his wife Beverly Bates Samson. A Catholic Mass will be held in his memory on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Holy Rosary Church, Hooksett at 4:00 PM. Donations in his name to the Precious Blood Monastery in Manchester will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
