Audrey Veronica Dunfey

Audrey Veronica (Albert) Dunfey settled gently into the memory and dreams of those she loved so sweetly and so well on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at The Arbors of Bedford.
Audrey was born October 1, 1930, in Lowell, MA, to the late Maurice and Veronica (Dugas) Albert. Her mother and father so adored their only child, as she did them in equal measure. From this came the transcendent radiance of Audrey's love for her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a radiance undimmed to her final soft sigh.
Before she devoted her life to starting and nurturing her family in every good way, Audrey was employed for several years as a Registered Nurse. When Audrey worked in the maternity ward, she was outwardly and utterly delighted with the assignment, an early indication of what would become clear to all who ever got to know her well: Audrey loved all children, everywhere.
This made it all the more poignant that a long twilight of Alzheimer's would limit Audrey's opportunity to do something that had always brought her great joy; something that, if you wish, you might do for Audrey now: Just bring a smile to the face of a child.
Audrey's favorite singer was Nat King Cole. He once sang a song that was unheralded enough that Audrey probably never heard it. The song is "Morning Star." If you find it and you listen to it, you will hear him sing of Audrey, and those such as she, who have brought the purest of light to this world.
Audrey's husband, Judge Richard P. Dunfey, died in 1991. Audrey is survived by her two daughters, Linda Dunfey and her other half Mr. Gale Hennessy of Bedford, and Dianne Dunfey and her husband Kurt Ehrenberg of Rye; her two sons, Dick Dunfey and Keith Dunfey, both of Manchester; four grandchildren, Catherine Gonzalez-Dunfey and her husband Lewis Gonzalez of Manchester, James Dunfey Ehrenberg of Burlington, Vt., Laura Dunfey Ehrenberg of Rye, and Elizabeth Bates of Boston, MA; and two great-grandchildren, Lewis Gonzalez-Dunfey and Audrey Gonzalez-Dunfey of Manchester.
Audrey's family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of The Arbors of Bedford for their care and caring for Audrey, as well as Audrey's special friends and loving helpers Beth Finnigan, Mary Flores, and last but above all, Eileen Finnigan.
Celebration of Audrey's life will be private. Please omit flowers, but consider if you wish a donation to Audrey's favorite charity, Doctors Without Borders, 333 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001-5004.
