Aurel Mocanu, 49, of 1591 Front Street, died July 7, 2000 at IHS. He was born in Faurei, Romania on June 23, 1951, the son of Ion and Ioana Mocanu and had resided in Manchester for the past twelve years. While living in Romania, he served in the Romania Army. He had been employed as a truck driver for TBI until his illness. Prior to that, he had worked for the Sheraton Tara Wayfarer in Bedford. He was active with the Romanian Orthodox Congregation in Manchester. Family members include his father of Romania, his wife of 25 years, Gabi (Cristica) Mocanu of Manchester; a son, Julian Mocanu of Concord; a daughter, Jasmine D.M. Mocanu of Knoxville, TN; four brothers and two sisters in Romania; and many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Sunday evening from 6 to 9 PM and on Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the Phaneuf Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM, with Aurel Petrescu of the Romanian Orthodox Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery
