Aurore Y. Girard

Aurore "Ora" Y. (Ferland) Girard, 93, of 138 Edmond Street, died December 20, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center. She was born in Issoudun, PQ, Canada on October 30, 1909, the daughter of Hermergil and Victoria (Boufford) Ferland and had been a resident of Manchester since 1940. She worked for many years in local shoe shops including Bee Bee Shoe and had retired from Queen City Shoe Company. She was a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration. She was predeceased by a son, Francis Girard and by two daughters, Joanne Girard and Claire Girard. Family members include her husband of 67 years, Romeo Girard; a daughter, Diane Light of Litchfield; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Paul Ferland of Issoudun, PQ Canada; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9:00 in the Parish of the Transfiguration (St. Jean the Baptist).
