Barbara Jean Bovaird, 85, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and James Hackett. She shared 66 years of marriage with her husband, William Bovaird.
Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Manchester Central High School. She was employed at the phone company before starting a family with her husband. She ended her working career as a bailiff at the Hillsborough County Courthouse before retiring.
Barbara belonged to St. Catherine of Siena Parish and was a charter member of the Policeman Wives Club where she held the title of President from 1980-1982. She enjoyed baking, gardening, the beach, and being with family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness as she was always willing to help others, without expecting anything in return.
Barbara is survived by her spouse, William Bovaird; her three children, William Bovaird, Sandra Jenovese and Elizabeth McKinney; her five grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, James Hackett and Marion Gronert.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 23 from 4-6PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM on Wednesday, January 24 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 207 Hemlock Street, Manchester. Burial will follow at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
