Barbara (Davis) Jesseman, 91, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Lisbon NH, was called home unexpectedly on June 29, 2024 to join her beloved husband, Roland A. Jesseman, who went before her on July 4, 2020. It broke our hearts that they were not able to come north during Covid and celebrate 65 years of marriage on October 29, 2020.
Barbara was born on May 22, 1933 in Decatur, IL and was raised by her dedicated mother, Myrtle (Wickersham) Myers and her grandparents. Barbara attended Millikin University for two years and then worked in Brooklyn, NY at AT&T phone company. It was on December 24, 1954 that the gift of a lifetime appeared when her father, Dell EE Davis, brought a fellow Naval Officer and country boy home for Christmas.
Roland and Barbara were married on October 29, 1955 and Roland was released from the Navy to return to his roots in Lisbon where they raised their family. He continued to grow the Jesseman’s Garage Chevrolet Dealership that his father Harlan started in 1930 until his retirement in 1996. Their youngest son, Scott, has branched off to Florida where he continues the Chevy loyalty and commitment where everyone is treated like family with kindness and honesty.
Barbara was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. With an apron or blue bar in hand, there was nothing she couldn’t tackle. Above all else she was a mother, not only to her three children, Sandra, David, and Scott, but to everyone she met, young and old. She enjoyed helping others and fixing things. Their home was an open door and everyone was welcome and part of the family. Her strength was amazing, both physically and emotionally right until the end. From throwing hay bales in her 80s to enduring the suffering and grief of the loss of loved ones, especially their precious son David in 1988.
They will both be remembered for their love and devotion to one another, family, friends, and community. They enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, dances, and most of all the get-togethers for family dinners, board games and cards. They were never too busy to help, especially if it involved a building or demolition project, farming, or a chance to see their 3 children and their families. They leave behind 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, Wendell Jesseman and David Wickersham’s families that continue to grow and branch throughout the world.
A memorial service and reception will be held on July 27, 2024 at 11:00am in United Methodist Church on Main Street in Lisbon NH. Committal at the Lisbon Cemetery to follow at 1:30pm. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend services and then gather by the pond and campfire at “The Land”, Moses Clark Road in Landaff NH to share ongoing stories and memories.
Friends are encouraged to share your memories through pictures and songs of Barbara and Roland, and email to Sandra J. Picard at missingpeacewhcf@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, Please consider making a donation to help those suffering from the loss of family and loved ones from the effects of Lyme Disease and Covid by contacting Sandra.
