Barbara Tarr Nutter, 93, of Concord, NH, passed away at Concord Hospital on June 20, 2022. Born in Saugus, MA on January 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Fenwick and Effie May Mercer. She was the wife of the late Norman E. Nutter, who predeceased her in 2011.
Barbara graduated with honors from Saugus High in Saugus, MA. She continued her education at a Vermont College and earned her degree in business / bookkeeping. In her early years, she worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance company and an accountant. She drove a school bus for the Melrose School District. Then she served as a program manager for many years with Skill Path and National Seminars. Barbara loved music and was an excellent singer and piano player. She enjoyed entertaining guests and throwing lavish tea parties. She enjoyed the holidays, most especially Christmas. Her hobbies included playing bridge, puzzles and reading. She enjoyed swimming, eating out with friends, traveling, and watching the birds outside her windows. A woman of many talents, she was always active and involved in her community. She took great pride in her appearance, loved fashion and having her hair done. She was a passionate mother and a force to be reckoned with when it came to her family. Barbara was loved by many people and will be sadly missed, especially by Mr. Cooper, her loving cat companion.
Barbara is survived by her children, William “Ted” Tarr III and his spouse, Helen of Western MA, Elizabeth “Betsy” Mullholland and her husband Irvin, of Sonoma, California, John Tarr and his wife Amy of Haverhill, MA; her grandchildren, Fox and Hank Mullholland, Samantha, Hannah, Johnny and Jessy Tarr, and step-grandchild, Mark Tyczynski, and her great-grandson, Mason Goulart. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was also predeceased by her son, James B. Tarr.
Barbara was laid to rest privately at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
