Barbara L. Pike, 58, of Townshend, VT passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in New York, NY on February 12, 1955, the daughter of Norma (Ecklund) Pike and the late Laurence B. Pike.
Barbara was raised in Scarsdale, NY and after graduating from Scarsdale High School moved upstate to Penn Yan, NY to pursue her studies in nursing. After a few years Barbara left her upstate friends to return to her paternal home in Brattleboro and worked at a number of local nursing homes. Desiring more adventure in her life she headed out on the road and worked as a long haul truck driver until her health kept her off the road. In Barbara's remaining years she enjoyed reading, embroidery, spoiling her many pets and helping others in need. She was always willing to help out a downtrodden friend or take in a stray animal until they could get back on their feet. She had much love to share and she will be missed.
She is survived by her mother, Norma (Ecklund) Pike of Great Falls, VA; three brothers, William Pike and his wife Lory of Santa Rosa, CA, Jeffery Pike and his wife Nelly of Great Falls, VA and Alan Pike of Ossining, NY; an Aunt, Louise T. Pike of Chevy Chase, MD; an Uncle, Stephen L. Pike of W. Lebanon, NH; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
