BARBARA JANE ROSS
WHITEFIELD, NH -- Barbara Jane (Richardson) Ross, age 71, of Whitefield, died on Saturday May 13, 2006 with her family at her side, at the Littleton Regional Hospital, after many years of suffering with lung disease.
She was born in Lebanon, NH on February 11, 1935, a daughter to Grace (Chandler) Lavoie, and Milton C. Richardson. She lived her childhood years with her grandmother, on a farm in Post Mills, Vermont. At the age of 13, she moved to Littleton, NH to live with her mother and stepfather, Grace and Quentin Lavoie.
She graduated from Littleton High school in 1953.
Barbara married John B. Ross of Littleton in 1958, moved to Whitefield in 1968, and raised four children, who were her pride and joy. She was an avid reader and accomplished knitter, selling some of her Barbie doll clothes, Afghans, scarves, hats and mittens at local craft fairs and flea markets. Most of all, she loved giving her creations to her children and grandchildren by whom they will be treasured for many years to come.
Barbara was also active for many years in youth programs, in particular the Pee Wee Baseball League, where she lent her sewing talents and gentle spirit, not only to her own children, but to many young people in the community.
She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, John B. Ross, Sr. of Whitefield, her four children; Matthew S. Ross of Concord, NH; Mark S. Ross of Mt. Juliet, TN; Brenda J. Ross of Lancaster, and John B. Mossy Ross, Jr. of Whitefield, NH; her seven grandchildren; one soon-to-be born great grandchild, and a half brother, Robert Richardson.
SERVICES -- There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
