Beatrice (Bea) Townsend, 87, formerly of Seabrook, NH passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Birch Hill Terrrace, Manchester, NH.

Bea was born and raised in Lawrence, MA. She was the daughter of the late Bedros and Lucy Babigian. Bea has the distinct honor of being the first baby baptized in the former Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Lawrence where she later became an active member of the Women's Guild and served as the church's secretary for several years. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School and Boston University. Bea was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) L. Townsend.

Bea enjoyed playing cards, board games, crossword puzzles, reading, singing, and walking. She and her husband also gave of their time by volunteering at the Anna & Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA.

Upon Bob's retirement, Bea and Bob, enjoyed spending more time with their friends of Seabrook Beach, NH and Jensen Beach, FL. They loved to cruise and travel with family and friends, visiting many islands, Europe, Egypt, and Asia.

Bea is survived by her daughter, Karen Newcomer and her husband Jay of Manchester, NH; son, Gary Townsend and his wife Joyce of Westford, MA; and daughter-in-law, Lynn (Maniero) Townsend of Savannah, GA. She was blessed with five loving grandchildren, Lauren, Cara, Robert, John, and Michael and four adorable great-grandchildren, Avery, Dylan, Whitaker, and Bo. All of whom she loved and cherished dearly. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Babigian and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bea was predeceased by her son, Robert P. Townsend and her brother, Gary Babigian.

ARRANGEMENTS: Due to current public safety precautions regarding the pandemic, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers may be directed to The Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe Building Fund, 1280 Boston Rd., Haverhill, MA 01835.
