Benjamin Franklin Baker, a kind and loving soul, was born on April 6, 1938, in Brucetown, Virginia. He passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in Milford, New Hampshire, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family.
Ben devoted much of his career to the automotive industry, beginning in the engine room of a Navy ship, skillfully working his way up to the position of Service Manager. He was respected for his expertise and commitment, having had a long tenure at multiple dealerships. His diligence and craftsmanship earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
An alumnus of Winchester High School in Virginia, Ben was not only dedicated to his work but also cherished his time spent outdoors. He had a passion for fishing, enjoyed spending hours in his garage working on his own cars and trucks, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, as well as the New England Patriots and the Red Sox.
Ben proudly served in the United States Navy, a testament to his commitment to his country and his community. He was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and toured most of the Atlantic Ocean during his service. Later in life, he was excited to finally see the Pacific Ocean, when he travelled to Hawaii. He lived close to family in Hudson, New Hampshire for most of his life, where he enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his garden and flowering plants.
Family was Ben’s proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his children: John (Maureen) Baker , Dave (Barbara)Baker, Ron (Tara) Baker, and Donna (Bill) Miller. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Mindy Baker, Ashley Baker, Erin (Nate) Collinge, Rachel Baker, Jenny (Tim) Casey, Anna Baker, Katie Baker, and Rebecca Miller. Additionally, Ben was the beloved great-grandfather of Kalli-Rose Collinge, Kaelyn Collinge, Nevaeh Sierra, Ellyana Sierra, Emilia Casey, and Baker Casey. He is also deeply missed by many nieces and nephews who carry his memory in their hearts.
Ben was predeceased by his loving wife Emily Smith, his ex-wife Jeanne D'Ambrosio Julian, his parents Theodore and Anna (Bell) Baker, his granddaughter Elisabeth Miller his brothers Norman Baker, Hugh Baker, and Allen Baker. They will welcome him with open arms in eternal rest.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Benjamin Franklin Baker on December 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by those who knew him. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans
