Benjamin F. Lay, 75, of 216 Perley Street, Manchester, died February 12, 2001, at Hanover Hill Health Care after a long illness. He was born in Columbia, NH on May 9, 1925, the son of Benjamin D. and Mary (Prince) Lay and lived in Colebrook, NH before moving to Manchester 32 years ago. He served in the Army Corp as an engineer in the Philippines during WW II. Benjamin was a devoted husband and grandfather. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Family members include his wife of 25 years Claire (Chouinard) Lay of Manchester, a step son Alan Lay of Huntsville, Alabama, two grandchildren, two brothers Bruce Hawes of Colebrook, NH and Richard Lay of Lemington, Vermont, a sister Linda Masewic of Manchester, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: The funeral service will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium Chapel, 243 Hanover Street, on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
