Bernadette M. (Ballantyne) Chalupa of Nashua passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022, at the age of 86.
Bernadette was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 7, 1936, to the late James and Ellen Ballantyne, the youngest of eight siblings. In her early adult years, Bernadette was consecrated as a member of the Sisters of Mercy. After over a decade of service in religious life, Bernadette eventually left the convent and later married her late husband of 36 years, Paul Chalupa.
A woman of many professional accomplishments, she last worked for the Credit Suisse in the World Trade Center in NYC prior to her retirement. After the passing of her husband Paul, she relocated to The Huntington at Nashua, where she was a very active member of the community.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Paul, she was preceded in death by her twin sister Jeanette Peckauskas, and sisters Agnes Preston, Isabelle Whelehan, Ellen Schmitz, Anne Brophy and Elizabeth Beaver and her brother, James Ballantyne.
She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and several great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She is also survived by many devoted friends from her community at The Huntington, a sister-in-law, Barbara Ballantyne and brothers-in-law Kenneth Beaver and Ray Peckauskas.
A memorial and burial services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY on Friday June 17, 2022 at Noon. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester in assisting with arrangements.
