Bernard J. Blais, 97, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on March 15, 1927, he was a son of the late George and Marie (Houle) Blais. He shared 71 years of marriage with his late wife, Janet A. (Morin) Blais, who predeceased him in 2022.
Bernard was raised and educated in Manchester and was a 1947 graduate of Central High School. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifelong member of the Fraternal order of the Eagles.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and tending to his vegetable garden. Above all else, he was the beloved patriarch of his family and cherished time spent with his loved ones.
Bernard is survived by three sons, Edward Blais; Michael Blais; Daniel Blais and his wife, Pamela; a daughter, Priscilla Warren and her husband Robert; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren who adored their Pepere, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bernard was predeceased by his sons, Robert J. Blais who passed in 1991 and by David Blais who passed in 2016.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 16 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield, NH. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester.
