LITTLETON ---- Betty G. Knopf, 77, of Littleton, NH passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Littleton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Ellenboro, NC on December 1, 1925, a daughter of Troy F. and Prudence (Whisnant) Green.

Mrs. Knopf graduated high school in Ellenboro, NC. She entered into a career with the telephone company as an operator where she was employed many years. She lived in Milford, CT prior to moving to Littleton in 1976.

Betty volunteered her time as a volunteer at the Littleton Regional Hospital, past officer of the Littleton Garden Club, member of the Howard Shawney Post #816 Ladies Auxiliary Club, and a member of the Grafton County Extension. She was also a member of the Genealogical Society of Old Trion County North Carolina as well as various other genealogical societies. Betty was well known for her passions as an avid gardener taking great pride in her creations.

Family members include her husband, Bertram Knopf of Littleton, NH; one daughter, Elizabeth Moreau of Saco, Maine; four brothers, Charles L. Green of Aiken, SC, Ray F. Green of Ellenboro, NC, Lawson Jack Green of Ellenboro, NC, and Thomas W. Green of Shelby, NC; one sister, Mary Ruth Carver of Asheville, NC. One brother predeceased her.

SERVICES: Friends called at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton on Sunday, April 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A funeral service was held at the funeral home at 12:00 on Sunday with the Rev. Stephen E. Bascom, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery at a later date.
