BETTY J. RATHMAN
BETHLEHEM, NH -- Betty J. Rathman, 85 passed away on March 17th at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
She was born Betty Jane Weddle on February 28th 1923 in St Louis MO, a daughter to Cleo and Helen (Newton) Weddle. Her family moved to Portsmouth, NH shortly thereafter, where she graduated from Portsmouth High School class of 41 and married William F. Rathman of Reading, PA in November 1945, after meeting him through the USO.
Betty was an avid collector of cookbooks, recipes, friends, and enjoyed cooking, especially for family gatherings. Her many nieces and nephews will attest to her love of children, and unwavering pride in their varied accomplishments. She loved the ocean, flowers, and a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by a certain blue-eyed sailor named Bill, her companion of 62 plus years, immediate family, other relations and friends who think her journey ended all too soon, and her passing creates a hole in our hearts.
In addition to her husband, Bill Rathman of Bethlehem, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Laurie Rathman and grandchildren Ben & Emily, of Bethlehem, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Cleo & Helen Weddle, a brother, Rodney, and sister-in law, Jewell.
