LITTLETON, NH -- Blanche Agnes Lemire Herbert, 84, passed away on June 16th at home following a slow decline through which she received care from family, friends, neighbors, volunteers and staffs of Home Health & Hospice, Littleton Hospital, and the Lafayette Center.
She was born in Littleton, NH on July 4th, 1922, the daughter of Anthony J. and Sarah Agnes (Trombley) Lemire. Of French Canadian ancestry, she learned to speak English while attending St. Rose of Lima Parochial School and graduated from Littleton High School (41) with honors. She was employed by Parker Drug Store as a secretary for several years until a few months after her marriage in 1951 to George H. Herbert, also of Littleton.
Family was everything to Blanche. She loved being a mother, housewife and grandmother, was a great cook and had many interests, especially painting, crafts, photography and nature. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters for over 40 years, including 5 years serving as Recording Secretary, and was secretary and treasurer of her husbands businesses and co-founder of Littleton Millwork.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George Herbert, her brother, Tony Lemire of Littleton, son Steven, and three daughters all of the Littleton area; Gail, wife of Peter Kimball, Ellen, wife of Mitchell Greaves, and Janice Herbert, nephew Kevin Lemire of Port Orange, FL, who was raised within the Herbert family, seven grandsons and two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Arthur and George, and one sister, Irene Roberts.
SERVICES -- Calling hours will be held at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, located at 101 Union Street from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 19th. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held on Wednesday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church with burial following in Glenwood cemetery, with Rev. Fr. Marcel Martel as Celebrant.
