Bol Benjamin Madol, 10, of 284 Lowell Street, died August 12, 2007 in Manchester as a result of a drowning accident in the Merrimack River. He was born in Khartoum, Sudan on October 17, 1996, the son of Benjamin Madol and Monika Dut. He and his family immigrated to Manchester in 2002 after fleeing the Sudan and spending time in a refugee camp in Egypt. Bol was entering the 5th grade at McDonough Elementary School where last year he received the most improved reading award. He was a very faithful boy and had just celebrated his first communion in May at St. Augustin Church where he was a parishioner. He was fun loving and always happy. He belonged to the Boys and Girls Club, played baseball at Central Little League and also basketball for the St. Annes Program and for McDonough School. Family members include his mother of Manchester and his father of the Sudan; his step-father, Deng Chol of Manchester; four brothers, Henry Madol, Barnaba Madol, Richard Madol and David Madol all of Manchester; two sisters, Elizabeth Madol and Arway Chol of Manchester and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Calling hours will be at St. Augustin/St.Anne Church on Thursday morning from 9 to 11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help defray final expenses. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
