Bradford L. Hurst, 72, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2025 at his home in Easton, NH. Brad was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on January 10, 1953, the youngest son of William and Ruth Hurst, and spent his childhood in Taunton MA, Mystic CT, Hull MA, and Manchester NH. Brad also spent many summer days at his grandmother’s beach house in Mattapoisett MA. He graduated from Central High School in Manchester in 1972 and then studied meteorology at Lowell Tech. which became the University of Lowell.
As a radiochemical technologist, Brad made numerous technical and scientific contributions during his long and successful career at New England Nuclear and its successor companies.
Brad’s greatest passion was running. As a member of the Boston Athletic Association, Greater Boston Track Club, and Greater Lowell Road Runners, Brad was widely known and regarded as an elite runner, winning and placing nationally in many competitions. He also ran marathons internationally in Mexico City and Scarborough England among others. Later, he coached several high school running teams throughout New England and served as a race organizer serving every year as an officiant of the Boston Marathon.
Brad’s other pastimes included golf, pool, and hiking the nearby White Mountains. He was a founder and leader of the golf club, the “Suurre Tour,” organizing semi-annual tournaments in NH and Florida and playing golf weekly weather-permitting or not.
Brad is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his brother, Bill, of Fernandina Beach, FL.
