Bruce A. Cygan, 74, passed away May 11, 2021 at home, after a period of declining health.
He was born on March 1, 1947 in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Joseph and Stella (Neveu) Cygan. He graduated from Memorial High School in
Manchester in 1965 and went on to earn both his Bachelor's degree from UNH and his Master's degree in Education from Weslyn University in Middletown, CT.
Bruce was a professor of mathematics at the University of New Hampshire. He also spent 30 years as a math teacher in the Manchester school system, where he had a profound impact on his students. Many will fondly remember Bruce from his time spent volunteering coaching youth sports.
His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He loved gardening, going to the beach and was an avid fly fisherman.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 28 years, Eugenia (Makris) Cygan.
He is survived and will be missed by his second wife Diane (Robidoux) Cygan of Concord, his daughter Kimberly Maguire of Londonderry, his son Matthew Cygan of Manchester, his brother Kenn Cygan and his wife Sharon of Hilton Head, SC, and his three grandchildren Katherine, Jillian, and Cooper. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many dear friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 20th at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester NH from 3 to 6:30 pm with a memorial service to follow.
