BYRON W. CASCADDEN

FRANCONIA -- Byron W. Cascadden, 86, a lifelong resident of Littleton NH, died February 7, 2004 at the Lafayette Nursing Home in Franconia where he had been a resident.

He was born in Littleton on July 1, 1917, the son of William and Dora (Biron) Cascadden and graduated from Littleton High School in 1935. He married Rita Rousseau, also a Littleton native in 1943.

Byron served stateside in the United States Army Air Force as an airplane
mechanic during WWII. After the war he returned to his job at the Railway Express Agency in Littleton where he delivered freight from the trains in the signature green truck with a pigeon on its side. He rose to manager and served for 28 years before the office was closed. He also worked as an assistant manager at Aubuchon Hardware. Byron served as custodian of Saint Rose of Lima Church and enjoyed a quiet family life.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Cascadden; four sons, Creg Cascadden of Derry
NH, Marc Cascadden of Amherst, NH, Neil Cascadden of Berlin, NH, and Dean Cascadden of Bristol NH; one daughter, Sara Smith of Littleton, NH; one brother, Reginald Cascadden of Whitefield, NH; one sister, Carol Gardner, of Abbington, MA; and 12 grandchildren.

SERVICES -- Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 9th from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Bill Cryans as Celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Rose Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Catholic Charities.
