Carl E. Holman, Sr., 85, of 138 South Maple Street, died August 24, 2002 at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in East Templeton, MA on June 1, 1918, the son of Charles and Bertha (Mann) Holman and had been a Manchester resident for over 50 years. During World War II he was an army sergeant and served in Italy with the 88th Blue Devil Division. He had worked at Anchor Electric for 28 years and also worked for Avis Car Rental for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Sweeney Post. He was a musician and played with the country and western band, the Bar X Boys for many years. He was predeceased by his son, Carl E. Holman, Jr. Family members include his wife of 57 years, Pauline (Watts) Holman; his Goddaughter whom he raised, Sally Lavallee of Upton, ME; three grandchildren; and nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday from 3 to 6 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday morning at 10:00 with the Rev Karl Washburn of the First Baptist Church officiating.
